Wildcat Driller Stock Pick - BPZ Resources
“The only thing that’s working in this market is energy,” Jim Cramer told fans of his “Mad Money” TV show Wednesday. All week long Cramer has been highlighting wildcatters, oil and natural gas drillers that go where nobody else will. Cramer told viewers his newest idea for the wildcat play is BPZ Resources (BZP), a Peru-based driller that operates on and offshore. He explained that the company holds 110 million barrels of certified reserves in the Corvina offshore field and it plans to drill a new well in the same area soon. The company also plans to drill in the Albacora field and expand into natural gas. Cramer’s favorite part of BPZ is the company’s fast-growing production rate. This year’s first-quarter results of 500 barrels a day is expected to jump to 6,000 a day by the third quarter, 8,000 by the end of 2008 and 11,000 barrels a day by the end of 2009.
