Shares of chip maker ON Semiconductor Corp. (NASDAQ: ONNN) rose 4.59% and closed on $7.55 Wednesday after the company reported third-quarter quarter results that beat expectations, and forecast strong fourth quarter revenue. Adjusted earnings per share for the third quarter came in at $0.16, beating expectations of $0.10, while Q4 revenue is projected in the range of $480 million to $495 million, in hopes of beating analysts’ views of $468.3 million. Speaking in a conference call, CEO Keith Jackson said: “The fourth quarter of 2009 should represent the first quarter we should see year-over-year revenue growth in our analog end market since the recession began.”
