America Trade
The traders talked about playing American-based stocks following a report from Merrill Lynch that said fund managers are turning more bullish on domestic companies. Finerman said she is bullish on Altria (MO). Najarian likes Johnson & Johnson (JNJ). Macke said McDonald’s (MCD) and Wal-Mart (WMT) are the best America trades. Adami said he favors Alliant (ATK) because they just reported a strong quarter.
Solar Trade
The traders discussed some solar plays following a strong earnings report this week from LDK Solar (LDK), Applied Materials (AMAT) and Canadian Solar (CSIQ). Najarian said that solar is growing 40% a year and that’s why IBM (IBM), Hewlett-Packard (HPQ), Intel (INTC) and Applied Materials are getting into the red hot sector. He advised investors to consider all these stocks for a play on solar. Adami recommended Evergreen Solar (ESLR) for his play on solar.
POPS&DROPS
POPS- Dr. Pepper Snapple Group (DPS) traded up 5% after the beverage company beat on earnings and raised their full-year outlook. Finerman said she doesn’t like the number 3 player in the sector. Schlumberger (SLB) jumped 4%. Najarian advised investors to watch this stock. Longs Drug Stores (LDG) soared 31% after CVS agreed to buy the drug store. Macke said they received a nice offer. Cree (CREE) added 16% after the LED maker beat Wall Street estimates. Najarian explained that the stock is back to where it was last quarter. NVIDIA (NVDA) popped 11% after the company said it plans to buyback $1 billion worth of stock, almost half of its outstanding shares. Adami thinks the stock has found a bottom.
DROPS- Home Depot (HD) lost 3%. Adami thinks the stock will be weak in the near-term, but will eventually move higher. Liz Claiborne (LIZ) plunged 12% after the clothing maker reported a loss and lowered its full-year outlook. Brunswick (BC) slipped 5%.
