Cramer’s Speculation Friday Stock Picks
For “Speculation Friday,” Cramer recommended battery makers Exide Technologies (XIDE) and Ener1 (HEV). Exide is a maker of lead acid batteries but Cramer thinks the company’s lithium-ion batteries are going to be the future of the battery industry. “The company is growing globally, especially in India, where it recently doubled its battery-making capacity,” he said. Cramer likes that Exide gets half of its revenues from abroad and no analysts cover the stock, which leaves room for the stock to march higher as Wall Street catches on to the story. Moving on, Cramer recommended a even more speculative play in Ener1 (HEV). Cramer explained that the company is developing a lithium-ion battery for hybrid cars, a fuel cell and nanomaterials for better energy storage in batteries. The company is currently unprofitable but it recently inked a joint venture with Delphi to sell prototype batteries to a Norwegian electric-car maker. Cramer explained that the company has no analyst coverage, leaving it room to trade higher as analysts learn about the company. Cramer advised viewers to do their homework on these stocks and use limit orders and don’t buy them in after hours trading. “You don’t want to end up paying through the nose because you placed a big market order,” he said.
