Cramer’s Private Labal Stock Play - Ralcorp
Jim Cramer told viewers of his “Mad Money” TV show that private label stocks are worth buying right now. He recommended shares of Ralcorp Holdings (RAH). Cramer explained that during hard economic times consumers will switch to cheaper products sold by Ralcorp. He says RAH will benefit as grocery chains become more aggressive in pushing their private labels. Ralcorp sells its cereals at around a 20% discount to Kellogg (K) and 36% discount to General Mills (GIS). He pointed out that supermarkets like Supervalu are increasing their the advertising campaigns for generic products, which will help to boost sales for RAH. Cramer also likes the name for a play on falling commodity prices and declining raw costs. A few company directors recently bought 3,600 shares around $59.48 to $61.54.
