Biotech Buyout – Watson
Cramer discussed some potential biotech buyouts off the news that Roche has made a bid to buyout Genetech (DNA). Regular readers will remember that Cramer recommended buying shares of Genentech after a negative article about the company appeared in the New York Times. Cramer said investors should avoid playing names like Forrest Labs (FRX), ImClone (IMCL) and Genzyme (GENZ). He thinks the best play for a potential takeover is Watson (WPI). Cramer likes the company for its 60 new drug applications pending at the FDA. He pointed out that Watson’s pipeline could be worth $2 billion and the company has a market cap of only $3 billion.
